What according to you has been the most critical thing that has contributed to your success as a coach?
Our family lived in Tonga for 13 years, American Samoa for two years, and Hawaii for 21 years. I have been exposed to many different cultures and parenting styles. I have also written many articles about parenting for which I did a deep dive, researching different aspects of parenting and when writing for Smarter Parenting we taught the evidence-based skills of the
Teaching-Family Model.
What do you do differently or how is your coaching different from others?
I am married to ‘Isileli T. Kongaika who is from Tonga, and we have four children: Liana (Doctor of Nursing), Robert (Colonel in the US Air Force), Joel (Entrepreneur), and Jacob (songwriter/singer known as Cubworld) who got his start in Amsterdam, and 12 grandchildren. Being a mother was my first priority and many times my husband was away from home due to his position as Vice President of BYU Hawaii, a University in Hawaii. All our children get along and love one another and us, so I feel that I am qualified to be a good parent coach to others.
